Sergio Busquets Begins Coaching Path at FC Barcelona

Former Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets, 38, visited the club’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training complex and held talks with the hierarchy about joining the coaching staff of Barcelona Atlètic, the club’s second‑team that will compete in the Segunda RFEF under head coach Juliano Belletti. Busquets, who retired from playing at the end of 2025 after a spell with Inter Miami, wants to start his trainer career in the environment he knows best, learning the duties of a coach before eventually seeking a senior role. The club sees his experience and deep knowledge of the game as valuable assets for the development of young talent.

Busquets does not yet hold the licence required to manage a first‑team side, but the plan is for him to gain experience within the technical staff, understand daily operations and progress through the necessary qualifications while contributing to Barcelona’s academy system.
