Italian football figure Sergio Carpanesi has passed away at the age of 90. A former midfielder, Carpanesi was a member of the historic Fiorentina squad that won the Scudetto during the 1955-56 season. He was noted as the last surviving player from that championship-winning team.

Throughout his playing career, Carpanesi represented several clubs, including Palermo, Spal, Roma, and Sampdoria. His honors include the 1961 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the Coppa Italia with Roma in 1964.

Following his playing days, he transitioned into a long career as a manager, coaching teams such as Pisa, Monza, and Spezia. He is particularly remembered by Spezia supporters for leading the club to promotion from Serie C2 to C1 during the 1985-86 season.
