Sergio de Larrea drafted 25th overall, rights traded to Dallas Mavericks

Spanish point guard Sergio de Larrea, 20, was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. The Knicks immediately dealt his rights to the Dallas Mavericks in a three‑team transaction that also involved the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns and several future second‑round picks and cash considerations. Dallas announced a draft‑and‑stash plan, keeping de Larrea with Valencia Basket for the 2026‑27 season while retaining his NBA rights. The player signed a rookie contract worth roughly $3.3 million for his first year, totaling about $16.8 million over four years. De Larrea has been a key contributor for Valencia, helping the club reach the EuroLeague Final Four and winning the Supercopa MVP award, while also earning a gold medal with Spain’s U‑19 team. His selection marks the second Spanish first‑round pick of 2026, the first time Spain has had two players taken in the first round since 2021.
