Sergio De Larrea drafted by New York Knicks, rights transferred to Dallas Mavericks
Spanish guard Sergio De Larrea was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. The Knicks immediately traded his draft rights to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a multi‑team deal that also involved the Los Angeles Lakers. De Larrea, a 20‑year‑old Valencia point guard, helped the Spanish club win the Liga Endesa championship and was named the league’s Best New Player, averaging 9.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 17.6 minutes per game.
De Larrea said he grew up a fan of the Mavericks, stating “I was a Mavericks fan since I was a kid.” He has not yet decided whether to join the NBA immediately, noting the Mavericks can retain his rights while he continues to develop in Europe under a draft‑and‑stash arrangement.
