Sergio de Larrea signs $16 million deal with Dallas Mavericks

Spanish guard Sergio de Larrea, 21, left Valencia Basket after triggering his buy‑out clause and signed a four‑year, fully guaranteed contract worth $16 million (about €15.3 million) with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. The deal makes him the third Valencia‑produced player to reach the NBA. De Larrea will join the Mavericks’ Summer League roster and is expected to compete for a rotation spot from day one. His move follows a successful stint in Spain where he won the Liga Endesa championship, was named MVP of the Supercopa, and earned the league’s Best Young Player award. In Dallas he will share a locker room with fellow Spaniard Santi Aldama, who also recently joined the Mavericks. The signing has generated strong fan interest in both Spain and the United States.
