Sergio Massidda finishes 16th at IWF World Weightlifting Championships

Italian weightlifter Sergio Massidda finished 16th overall in the men's 65 kg category at the 2026 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China. This event serves as a primary qualification milestone for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Competing in Group B, Massidda recorded a total lift of 290 kg, consisting of 130 kg in the snatch and 160 kg in the clean and jerk. His performance was noted as being below his previous competitive levels, following a period of recovery from surgery during 2025.

The 65 kg category was won by North Korea's Myong Jin Pak with a total of 331 kg, followed by Turkey's Ozbek with 330 kg and the United States' Morris with 328 kg. Massidda's performance placed him 9th within his group before the final classification was determined after Group A competition.
