Sergio Moro criticizes Copel efficiency and Sanepar privatization plans
Sergio Moro, the PL candidate for the governorship of Paraná, criticized the efficiency of Copel following its privatization in August 2023. During a broadcast with Rede Paraná, Moro argued that the utility company has seen an increase in power outages and longer restoration times, failing to meet the efficiency goals expected from privatization.
Moro noted that while he will respect existing privatization contracts, he intends to demand service improvements if elected. He also referenced a Senate public hearing regarding Copel's service quality.
Regarding Sanepar, the state sanitation company, Moro stated he has no current commitment to privatization. Instead, he advocated for a management overhaul and the application of the State-Owned Companies Law to the selection of directors and board members to improve efficiency. He also expressed criticism regarding Sanepar's tariff adjustments.
