Sergio Moro sues former judge for R$ 100,000 in damages
A conciliation hearing has been scheduled for September 29 in Curitiba regarding a lawsuit filed by Senator Sergio Moro against former federal judge Luciana Dias Bauer. Moro, a candidate for the governorship of Paraná, is seeking R$ 100,000 in moral damages.
The legal action follows an interview in which Bauer claimed that Moro physically assaulted her in 2016 by grabbing her by the neck in an elevator at the Federal Justice Forum. Moro’s defense characterizes the allegation as a “vengeful fable” created nearly a decade after the purported incident.
Defense attorneys argue that Bauer failed to file a police report or a formal complaint with the internal affairs department at the time of the alleged event. They also cited cordial text messages exchanged between Bauer and Moro’s team in 2017 and 2018 as evidence inconsistent with the claim of aggression. Additionally, Moro is contesting statements in which Bauer referred to him as a “mafioso” and “criminal” in connection with the Lava Jato investigation.
