Sergio Perez defends 2026 performance despite Cadillac's lack of points
Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez has rejected claims that 2026 is the worst season of his career, despite driving for Cadillac, the only team yet to score points this season. After leaving Red Bull Racing at the end of 2024 and missing the 2025 season, Perez returned to the grid this year to lead the new Cadillac project.
While the team has struggled with reliability and overheating issues, Perez maintains that his driving level and confidence remain high. He noted that while the raw results do not reflect his performance on track, those who follow the sport closely can see the quality he is maintaining.
Perez's current season marks the first time since his debut in 2011 that he has failed to score a championship point. His best results this year include a 14th-place finish in Barcelona and Silverstone, as well as a tenth-place finish in Monaco that was ultimately disqualified due to penalties.
