Sergio Perez lauds Cadillac comeback, recalls Racing Point departure

Mexican driver Sergio Perez rated his performance with the new Cadillac Formula 1 team as "close to 10," saying he is happy with his pace in both races and qualifying. He noted that a penalty at the Monaco Grand Prix prevented him from scoring the team's first point, but he feels his experience is a vital asset for Cadillac as the season progresses.

Perez also reflected on his earlier exit from the team then known as Racing Point. He explained his role in the 2018 administration of Force India, helping to protect staff before Lawrence Stroll’s consortium bought the outfit. Despite expecting a contract renewal, he was informed the seat would go to Sebastian Vettel, a decision he accepted without resentment. The episode, he said, became a turning point that eventually led to his current opportunity with Cadillac.
