Sergio Peris-Mencheta premieres documentary 'SerYo' at Valladolid Film Festival

Actor and director Sergio Peris-Mencheta has premiered his documentary, ‘SerYo’, at the Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci). The film documents his personal struggle with leukemia and his subsequent recovery following a bone marrow transplant from his brother.

Co-directed by Marta Solaz and Verónica Díaz Pérez, the documentary focuses on the intersection of the creative process and the healing process. Peris-Mencheta recorded footage on his mobile phone while undergoing oncological treatment in Los Angeles, even attempting to direct theatrical rehearsals in Madrid from a distance.

Peris-Mencheta described the artistic creation as a fundamental driver for his recovery, stating that the creative work served as a form of salvation during his illness.
