Sergio Pérez discusses F1 retirement and Cadillac project

Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez has addressed his future in the sport, indicating that his retirement is not imminent but likely within the next three to four years. Pérez expressed a desire to see the Cadillac project progress and become competitive before he departs.

Currently driving for Cadillac, which debuted in the category in 2026, Pérez noted that the team is facing challenges in its inaugural season. He observed that the team has not improved as quickly as expected and is currently positioned at the back of the grid. He emphasized the need to review internal processes to close the gap with mid-field teams like Williams and Aston Martin.

Pérez, who holds six victories and 39 podiums in F1, remains motivated to help the team under the leadership of new director Marcin Budkowski. He stated that even a small improvement in performance, such as a fraction of a second, would significantly change the team's standing.
