Sergio Pérez and Oscar Piastri face setbacks at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix saw mixed fortunes for key drivers. Sergio Pérez, driving for Cadillac, faced a difficult qualifying session where he was penalized three grid positions for obstructing Oscar Piastri. Despite starting from the back, Pérez finished the race in 14th or 15th place, describing his performance as one of his best in Baku in terms of pure driving, though he noted the car lacks sufficient straight-line speed to compete with the leaders.

Oscar Piastri experienced a significant setback after a strong start that placed him in podium contention. A sudden double lock-up during a race restart caused him to slide into the escape area, dropping him from a potential top-three finish to 14th place. The incident left McLaren without scoring points in the race, as teammate Lando Norris also failed to finish after a collision.

Cadillac management expressed disappointment with the overall result but viewed the team's operational evolution as a positive sign for the remainder of the season.
