Sergio Pérez contemplates Formula 1 retirement
Formula 1 driver Sergio Pérez has indicated that he is considering retirement in the near future, noting that his time in the sport may not extend much beyond the 2027 season. The 36-year-old Mexican driver, currently competing for the debutant Cadillac team, stated that while he possesses the skill to continue longer, his primary motivation is to spend more time with his wife, Carola Martínez, and their four children.
Pérez described the Cadillac project as more demanding than initially anticipated, noting that bringing the team to a competitive level will take significant time. The team currently sits at the bottom of the constructors’ championship without any points, facing challenges related to technical reliability and budget constraints.
Despite the team's struggles, Pérez expressed satisfaction with his personal performance level. He is currently preparing for the United States Grand Prix followed by the Mexican Grand Prix, where he is set to reach a career milestone of 300 Formula 1 starts.
