Matheus Augusto Silva arrested for double homicide in Porto Seguro, Bahia

Police in Bahia arrested 23‑year‑old Matheus Augusto Silva de Oliveira in Itajuípe after authorities linked him to the murders of Leandro Nerys dos Santos (34) and Rafael Santana de Jesus (36) in Porto Seguro. The victims were killed in August 2025; Rafael died by suffocation inside a bedroom and Leandro was bludgeoned with a blunt object in another room. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Silva with the victims and another suspect who is already in custody. Silva was taken to the Porto Seguro courthouse for a custodial hearing and denies involvement. The investigation, led by the Porto Seguro police, indicates the suspects and victims met through a dating app. The other alleged perpetrator, Erivan Ferreira de Lima, was apprehended in January 2025.
