Sergipe experiences high temperatures during holiday period
The state of Sergipe is facing a period of clear skies and high temperatures during the All Souls Day holiday weekend. According to the State Secretariat for the Environment, Sustainability, and Climate Actions (Semac), a dry and warm air mass associated with a high-pressure system is preventing cloud formation and rain across the coast, agreste, and sertão regions.
Temperatures in the sertão are expected to reach up to 38°C, while the agreste may see highs of 37°C. Coastal areas are forecasted to remain between 25°C and 30°C. Authorities have advised the population to avoid prolonged sun exposure between 10:00 and 16:00, maintain hydration, and reduce intense physical activity during peak heat hours, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses.
In a related instance of heat-related travel challenges, a group of 48 cyclists traveling from Sergipe to Juazeiro do Norte for the All Souls pilgrimage reported significant difficulties due to intense heat, particularly while passing through Pernambuco.
