Seriake Dickson hosts reunion of former Alliance for Democracy leaders
Senator Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), hosted a reunion in Abuja for former leaders and founding members of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD). The gathering brought together prominent figures from the party’s history, including founding father Chief Michael Odurinde, former National Secretary Prof. Udenta Udenta, and Dr. Manzo Abubakar.
Dickson, who previously served as a founding State Chairman and National Legal Adviser for the AD, noted that the meeting provided a rare opportunity for colleagues to reconnect after approximately 27 years. He described the AD as an ideological and principled party that played a significant role in Nigeria’s transition to the Fourth Republic during the 1998/1999 democratic dispensation.
Dickson clarified that the reunion was not intended to discuss partisan politics or potential alliances between the NDC and the defunct AD. Instead, the event focused on reflecting on their contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and honoring deceased colleagues and leaders.
