Serie A clubs Como and Roma prepare to challenge Italian football hierarchy
The 2026/27 Serie A season features several clubs aiming to disrupt the traditional hierarchy of Italian football. Como, led by manager Cesc Fàbregas, enters the season following a successful campaign that secured a Champions League spot. The club, owned by the Djarum Group, aims to consolidate its position as a major force in the league after previously outperforming established teams like Milan and Juventus.
AS Roma, under the management of Gian Piero Gasperini, is also positioned as a title contender. After finishing third in the previous season and returning to the Champions League, the club is focused on ending a long championship drought. Roma has bolstered its squad with young talent, most notably the 19-year-old midfielder Rodrigo Mora, to bridge the gap with frontrunners Inter Milan and Napoli.
