Serie A launches ‘Palla o Campo’ official silver coin

The Zecca dello Stato, in collaboration with Lega Calcio Serie A, has released ‘Palla o Campo’, the official silver coin for the 2026/2027 Serie A season. Part of the 2026 Numismatic Collection of the Italian Republic, the 5-euro coin is made of 925‰ silver and is available for purchase by collectors as of September 3, 2026.

The coin is integrated into the matchday ritual, as it will be used for the traditional toss that precedes every game in the top Italian football league. Designed by artists from the Zecca dello Stato’s Engraving Studio, the coin features contemporary graphic interpretations of football.

The obverse depicts a football with the ‘RI’ monogram of the Italian Republic and a background pattern of whistles, with the word ‘talent’ written in various Italian dialects along the edge. The reverse features a representation of a football pitch with twenty-two points symbolizing the players, the Lega Calcio Serie A pictogram, and the word ‘team’ expressed in various regional dialects.
