Serie A season begins in Italy

The Italian Serie A season has officially commenced, moving past the preseason and transfer market phases into competitive league play. The opening matchday has concluded, with teams now competing for points that impact the standings and seasonal objectives, ranging from title contention to avoiding relegation.

Former Napoli midfielder José Luis Vidigal commented on the start of the season, expressing support for coach Massimiliano Allegri and suggesting that Napoli possesses the necessary tools to compete for the scudetto, despite Inter Milan's strong position. Vidigal also raised concerns regarding structural issues within Italian football, specifically criticizing the tendency of clubs to invest heavily in foreign players rather than prioritizing domestic talent and youth academies.
