Arsenal beat Como on penalties in pre-season finale

Arsenal concluded their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw against Como 1907 at the Emirates Stadium, eventually winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The match served as the final test for Mikel Arteta’s squad before their Community Shield clash against Manchester City.

Myles Lewis-Skelly opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 33rd minute following a mistake by Como goalkeeper Jean Butez. Como responded before halftime when Martin Baturina scored a skillful equalizer. The match also featured the debut of Arsenal’s £75 million signing, Bruno Guimarães, who was introduced at halftime and successfully converted his penalty during the shootout.

Como, managed by Cesc Fàbregas, showed a competitive performance that highlighted their recent growth. Arsenal utilized the match to rotate their squad, giving minutes to academy players like Theo Julienne and Marli Salmon, as well as new arrivals like Christos Tzolis.
