Serie B goalscorers: Shpendi leads as Italian players see scoring surge

Serie B is seeing a resurgence in Italian goalscorers, with 91 goals scored by Italian players in the first five matchdays—the highest figure at this stage in the last five seasons.

Cesena striker Cristian Shpendi currently leads the scoring charts, having netted six goals from just eight shots on target. He faces competition from a growing group of Italian players aiming to reclaim the “Pablito” top scorer award, which has not been won by an Italian since Massimo Coda in 2022.

Meanwhile, Palermo’s Joel Pohjanpalo has taken a different approach in the early season. Within Palermo’s reinforced offensive lineup, he has recorded one goal and two assists in the league, while contributing three goals in the Coppa Italia, allowing other teammates to share the scoring responsibilities.
