Italian football season begins across Serie D and Eccellenza

The 2026/27 Italian football season is commencing across various regional and national tiers. In Serie D, several matches are scheduled for Sunday, September 6, including Real Forio versus Brindisi, Pro Sesto against Lentigione, and Vigor Senigallia facing Sporting Trestina. In Girone I, Calabrian clubs Reggina and Sambiase will host matches, while Vibonese, Vigor Lamezia, and Praiatortora face away challenges.

In the Eccellenza leagues, the Campania regional groups A and B are beginning their campaigns on September 5 and 6. Meanwhile, the Coppa Italia Serie C second round recently concluded with mixed results for Campania-based teams: Scafatese was eliminated by Campobasso on penalties, Sorrento secured a 1-0 win over Cosenza, and Savoia defeated Catania 3-0. Following Scafatese's cup exit, the club has appointed Michele Facciolo as interim manager to provide technical continuity.
