Netherlands emergency services handle multiple vehicle accidents and fires

Across several Dutch provinces, local emergency services responded to a series of traffic accidents and vehicle fires on May 23‑24. Incidents included cars ending up in water on the A15 near Herwijnen, multiple vehicles slipping into ditches in Hedel, Dieren, and near the Scheemderzwaag, as well as collisions involving cyclists, a motorcyclist, and a bromfiets rider in Zwolle, Enschede, Rotterdam and Capelle aan den IJssel. Several people were injured and taken to hospitals, though most injuries were non‑life‑threatening.

Separate fire events were reported, such as an auto fire on Van Boetbergweg near Nijmegen, a blaze at a PreZero waste facility in Duiven, and a large sherd fire in Harkstede that required additional water‑carrying units. Police investigations are ongoing for the causes of both the traffic collisions and the fires.
