Serigne Bassirou Guèye contests state housing allegations
Serigne Bassirou Guèye, the former prosecutor of Dakar and former head of the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC), has contested statements made by Yaya Abdoul Kane regarding the occupation of state-owned property in Point E.
During a parliamentary inquiry into state-built heritage, Kane claimed that instructions were received from former President Macky Sall to grant Guèye an emphyteutic lease with a monthly rent of 100,000 FCFA. Guèye has dismissed these claims as “false declarations.”
Guèye clarified that the 100,000 FCFA figure refers to a housing allowance deducted from his salary, rather than the rent for the villa. He stated that his current rental agreement for the property is set at 1.5 million FCFA per month. He further explained that the property, which had previously been used by a merchant for food storage, underwent renovations funded by him before the lease was approved by the presidency and registered in the land registry.
