The Mouride community is in mourning following the death of Serigne Cheikh Ngounda Fall, announced on Thursday, October 15, 2026. He served as the khalife of Serigne Saliou Fall, a son of Mame Cheikh Ibrahima Fall, who was a founding figure of the Baye Fall movement.

His passing has caused significant emotion in Thiès, particularly within the Médina Fall neighborhood. As a religious leader, he was responsible for maintaining the spiritual lineage and teachings of the branch of the family descended from Mame Cheikh Ibrahima Fall, a prominent figure in Mouridism and a companion of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba.
