Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké dies in Senegal traffic accident

Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké, the son of the Mouride General Caliph Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, has died following a traffic accident in the Louga region of Senegal. The incident occurred near the village of Dière Wakho in the Koki district around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle reportedly lost control while traveling at high speed, resulting in five injuries. Serigne Ibrahima Mbacké, also known as Cheikh Ibrahima Fall ‘Lamp’, was evacuated to the Louga regional hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Prior to the accident, the deceased had been representing his father at a distribution ceremony in the region. The Caliph, who is currently observing a spiritual retreat, communicated a message to the Mouride community through Serigne Abdou Latif Mbacké. In this message, the Caliph requested that followers refrain from traveling to the holy city of Touba to offer condolences, instead urging them to remain with their families and offer prayers from their respective locations.
