Serino hosts 49th annual Chestnut Festival

The 49th edition of the Sagra della Castagna di Serino IGP, the oldest chestnut festival in the Irpinia region, will take place on October 9, 10, and 11 in the village of Rivottoli, Serino. Organized by Pro Loco Serino with municipal patronage, the event features a program centered on gastronomy, local craftsmanship, folklore, and nature.

Key attractions include visits to the Chestnut Museum located in the bell tower of the Church of Sant’Antonio di Padova, guided excursions, and tastings of traditional roasted chestnuts known locally as ‘Vrole’. The festival will also feature a giant ‘virulera’ for roasting chestnuts, visits to chestnut processing companies, and culinary events such as the ‘CIENT Serino Perconoscenza’ hosted by Chef Giovanni Mariconda and the FIDAPA association.

The event aims to transform the village into an open-air museum, opening historic courtyards and palaces to the public and offering various cultural and natural paths through the Serinese Valley.
