Stjørdal: Air Force officer killed in military vehicle accident
A man in his late 20s, an officer in the Norwegian Air Force, died Thursday night following an accident during a military exercise at the Frigård shooting range in Stjørdal, Trøndelag.
The incident involved a heavy military vehicle, reportedly a Toyota Land Cruiser medical vehicle. While the event occurred during a field exercise, officials noted the specific accident happened during an administrative vehicle movement rather than as part of the training maneuvers.
Police and the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board (SHK) are investigating the circumstances. One hypothesis suggests the man may have attempted to start the vehicle from the outside, causing it to move and pin him. Emergency responders performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Air Force has provided psychological support to personnel at the Værnes base defense school.
