Serious car accident on Rijswijkse Waterweg in The Hague
A severe single-vehicle accident occurred on the Rijswijkse Waterweg near the Brassershoutweg bend during the night of Friday, October 23, to Saturday, October 24. A car carrying two occupants veered off the road and collided with multiple trees for reasons yet to be determined.
Emergency services, including the fire department, ambulance, and the Mobile Medical Team (MMT), responded to the scene. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to cut open the heavily damaged vehicle to free the trapped occupants. Both individuals were stabilized on-site and transported to the hospital under emergency conditions; the severity of their injuries remains unknown.
Following a police investigation, several bottles of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) were discovered inside the vehicle and subsequently seized. The Rijswijkse Waterweg was temporarily closed to traffic to allow emergency services to manage the scene.
