Romania's A10 Sebeș‑Turda Highway Closed After Landslide

An active landslide at km 66+300 forced the temporary closure of Lane 1 on the A10 Sebeș‑Turda highway. The Romanian road authority CNAIR redirected traffic to the parallel DN 1 route, adding about five kilometres to journeys. Director general Cristian Pistol warned that the unstable ground, combined with a risk of head‑on collisions at speeds over 150 km/h and possible blockage of emergency services, made the bidirectional use of Lane 2 unsafe, leading to its rejection. Repairs will be funded by the construction company, not the state budget, and CNAIR will reopen the lane once geotechnical reports confirm safety. The road‑users’ association Pro Infrastructura has appealed for a limited opposite‑direction diversion of about 2.5 km instead of the full closure, claiming the current detour endangers drivers on the national road.
