On 31 July 2026 police in Vienna’s Brünner Straße carried out a driver‑and‑vehicle check. The 46‑year‑old driver’s saliva test was positive for cocaine, prompting a second observation after the pair left in a taxi. During the follow‑up stop officers discovered a bag containing about 120 g of cocaine, which the suspects admitted to possessing. Both the driver and his 53‑year‑old passenger, Austrian citizens, were taken into provisional custody.

The operation also uncovered a large amount of cash on the passenger, which he claimed to have inherited. The seizure was reported by two separate police‑related news releases.
