SERNAC initiates aesthetic center inspections and pharmacy collusion compensations
Chile's National Consumer Service (SERNAC) has launched a series of consumer protection initiatives. The agency has begun onsite inspections of aesthetic centers across 14 regions to ensure compliance with safety and transparency regulations. These inspections focus on the delivery of clear information regarding treatment risks, the requirement of written informed consent for invasive procedures like Botox or hyaluronic acid, and the visible display of sanitary permits and prices in Chilean pesos.
Separately, SERNAC has initiated a compensation phase resulting from a judicial agreement with Farmacias Ahumada regarding medication price collusion. Between August 7 and August 28, approximately 6,602 people—representing 7,833 minors from vulnerable families linked to the 'Control Niño Sano' program—will receive a payment of $45,030 each. These funds will be distributed via the Social Security Institute (IPS) as part of the 'Chile Seguridades y Oportunidades' program.
