SERNAC investigates five companies over unverified weight loss products

Chile's National Consumer Service (SERNAC) has issued formal requests to five companies—Mercado Libre, Falabella, París, Líder, and Swiss Nature Labs—following the detection of 'miracle products' for weight loss being sold on their digital platforms.

Investigations revealed that various items, including LED masks, slimming patches, and liposuction machines, claim to offer therapeutic properties, metabolic acceleration, or radical aesthetic changes without scientific evidence. Specific products identified include ‘Slimming Patch’, ‘7-color LED Mask’, ‘Keto+ACV’, and ‘Lipodrol’.

As a preventive measure, SERNAC is requiring these companies to provide full copies of the certifications or technical documentation provided by direct sellers to substantiate their advertising claims. The agency emphasized that consumer law requires all advertising to be truthful, verifiable, and not misleading, particularly regarding health and nutritional claims.
