SERNAC issues safety alerts for Toyota vehicles and Maxwell flashlights in Chile
Chilean consumer protection agency SERNAC has issued safety alerts for two distinct products due to potential hazards.
Toyota Chile S.A. reported a defect in Toyota and Lexus 4 Runner models sold between March 2023 and January 2025. The issue involves the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system, where manufacturing defects in camera sensors could lead to cracks. This may cause internal short circuits, preventing the display of front or side views and increasing accident risks. Approximately 181 units are affected, though no accidents have been reported in Chile.
Additionally, a safety alert was issued for Maxwell Mega Light tactical LED flashlights sold by Builder Commerce Spa between June and August 2026. A potential battery polarity issue could lead to internal combustion. One incident involving total damage to a flashlight has been recorded, with no reported injuries. Consumers are advised to stop using the product and remove the batteries immediately. The company is offering full refunds or product substitutions.
