Sernancelhe officials present local chestnuts to Portuguese leaders

The Municipality of Sernancelhe traveled to Lisbon to present its traditional Castanha Martaínha to several high-ranking Portuguese state figures. Led by Mayor Carlos Manuel Ramos dos Santos, the delegation met with President António José Seguro at Belém Palace, former President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.

The initiative, a tradition spanning over two decades, aims to promote the local chestnut industry. During the meetings, the President acknowledged the work of local farmers and the municipality's efforts in product promotion. The visit to the Prime Minister also served to highlight the region's economic recovery following the 2025 fires and continued investment in agriculture.
