Serpenti film explores gender violence and femicide

The film ‘Serpenti’, directed by Roberto De Paolis Maino and co-written with Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, is being featured at Cinema Lumière. The film stars Alessandro Borghi, Pietro Castellitto, Leonardo Lidi, and Valeria Golino.

The narrative explores themes of gender violence and femicide through the story of Paolo Marra, played by Leonardo Lidi, who kills his wife and subsequently turns himself in to the police. The production delves into how modern violence has shifted in perspective, often becoming trivialized through social media and a lack of public education regarding the status of women in contemporary society.

In addition to ‘Serpenti’, Cinema Lumière is screening ‘L’amico fedele’ and ‘Anna’, a film focused on the life of Italian actress Anna Magnani.
