Serra das Araras road closures updated for construction

RioSP has announced updated traffic schedules for the Serra das Araras due to ongoing construction of new climbing and descending lanes, which are currently 86.5% complete.

A road closure is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Other upcoming temporary closures include Thursday, October 1, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and Saturday, October 3, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. During closures of the southbound lane (toward São Paulo) at km 225 of Via Dutra, northbound traffic toward Rio de Janeiro will remain unaffected.

Starting October 13, 2026, the concessionaire will implement a permanent change to the blasting schedule. Detonation operations will be reduced, and the current Monday and Wednesday closures will be suspended. The new permanent schedule will feature closures on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
