Serra de’ Conti secures 5 million euros for school campus renovation

The municipality of Serra de’ Conti has secured approximately 4.99 million euros in non-repayable funding from the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) to renovate its school campus on Via Martorello. The project will focus on the Giacomo Leopardi primary school and the Corrado Cagli secondary school.

The initiative aims to transform the facilities into Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). Key structural improvements include upgrading building envelopes with thermal insulation, replacing all external windows, and installing high-efficiency heat pumps to replace methane-powered thermal plants. Additionally, the plan incorporates renewable energy sources, mechanical ventilation, and air conditioning to improve safety, comfort, and environmental sustainability.

By concentrating resources on this single strategic campus rather than fragmenting funds, the administration intends to create a modern ecological hub without impacting the municipal budget or local taxpayers. Following this approval, the municipality will proceed with executive design phases before opening tenders for construction.
