Four injured in Serra do Rio do Rastro crash, driver trapped in wreck

A severe traffic collision occurred on the SC‑390 Serra do Rio do Rastro near Lauro Müller on the morning of June 14. The crash involved a Ford Ka that reportedly suffered a mechanical failure, collided with a Mitsubishi Pajero and then struck the road’s protective barrier. Four occupants were in the vehicle – an elderly driver, a 62‑year‑old woman, a 58‑year‑old woman and a five‑year‑old child. The driver was trapped inside the wreckage and required a complex extrication operation, while the elderly woman was intubated on site and air‑lifted to Hospital São José in Criciúma. The other two passengers were taken to hospitals in the region for evaluation. Rescue efforts deployed multiple fire‑engine units, SAMU ambulances and a medical helicopter.

Other incidents reported in the same period include a vehicle overturn on SC‑305 near Campo Erê, a frontal collision on the road to Itacaré, a truck overturning on BA‑026 between Maracás and Contendas do Sincorá, and a truck that struck participants in a cavalry procession in Itagimirim, Bahia, injuring two people and killing a horse. All accidents resulted in emergency response but caused no confirmed fatalities beyond the previously mentioned injuries.
