Serra Serata celebrates Italian culture in Petrópolis

The 17th edition of Serra Serata begins this Wednesday at the Palácio de Cristal in Petrópolis, celebrating Italian culture and the history of Italian immigration in the region. Promoted by Casa D’Italia Anita Garibaldi, the free event runs through Sunday and features typical gastronomy, music, dance, cinema, literature, lectures, and workshops.

The festival aims to preserve the memory of Italian immigrants and their descendants, whose presence in Petrópolis dates back to 1845. The event highlights how these communities contributed to the city's industrial development, particularly in areas like Cascatinha and Alto da Serra.

Program highlights include musical performances, traditional dance groups, and a Venetian-inspired masked ball. Additionally, visitors can view banners listing Italian family surnames connected to the city to foster a connection between collective history and individual family memories.
