Serra Talhada and Paraná kick off Brazil's Green June environmental campaigns

The municipality of Serra Talhada in Pernambuco began the "Junho Verde 2026" program on 5 June, aligning with World Environment Day. The month‑long agenda, announced by Mayor Márcia Conrado, includes an Eco Running race, a school sustainability gincana, a recycling forum, an ecological trail and a bike ride, all aimed at raising local awareness of climate action and encouraging citizen participation.

In parallel, the Legislative Assembly of Paraná is running its own Green June campaign, a state‑wide initiative created by law 19.502/2018 and championed by deputy Anibelli Neto. The assembly emphasizes environmental education, sustainable practices and legislative support, highlighting recent bills such as PL 930/2025, which promotes methane‑derived clean energy from waste, and PL 917/2019, which establishes a permanent composting program across the state.
