Serralves Park hosts Autumn Festival featuring Graciosa donkey

The 16th edition of the Festa do Outono will take place at Serralves Park on September 26 and 27. This year, the event highlights the Graciosa donkey, named Urtigão, as a central figure to promote awareness of autochthonous breeds and biodiversity conservation.

Urtigão, a young and friendly donkey from the Azores, has joined a community of 12 other native species at the park, including various birds, cows, and Bordaleira sheep. Mariana Roldão, Deputy Director of Serralves, noted that the animal's presence aims to highlight the ecological importance of these species and the risks of extinction facing many native breeds.

The festival will feature approximately 150 free activities, including contemporary circus, puppet theater, music, cinema, and science. The event is supported by 25 municipalities and includes organic and autumn markets.
