Serravalle Municipal Library launches digital technology lecture series

The Serravalle Municipal Library is launching a three-part lecture series titled ‘Staying Human in a Digital World.’ The program aims to explore the relationship between people and technology, encouraging a critical and conscious perspective on the digital landscape.

The inaugural session, ‘Is Artificial Intelligence Truly Intelligent?’, will be led by technology trainer and engineer Davide Premolie. The discussion will cover the history and rapid proliferation of AI, specifically focusing on generative models like ChatGPT. The session will address how these systems function, their ability to produce convincing responses without true comprehension, and the limitations of the technology, such as errors and ‘hallucinations.’ A central theme will be the risks of delegating human capacities—such as judgment, creativity, and critical thinking—to machines.
