Serravalle Scrivia paint spill triggers water safety checks

A road accident on the A7 motorway near Serravalle Scrivia on Monday, September 14, 2026, resulted in several cans of paint spilling onto the roadway. Due to the proximity of the Scrivia torrent, authorities immediately initiated environmental safety and cleanup operations.

Firefighters deployed two containment barriers within the torrent to intercept any chemical residues before they could disperse. While there is a potential environmental risk, officials noted that any material reaching the water would likely be in extremely limited quantities.

Gestione Acqua S.p.A. has launched precautionary inspections of intake works, wells, and water plants located approximately five kilometers from the site. The company has assured the public that there are currently no issues with the drinking water supply and that service remains regular.
