Serres: Investigation launched into death of 67-year-old Giorgos Chatzidis
Authorities in Serres are investigating the death of 67-year-old Giorgos Chatzidis, who was found dead on his sofa on August 1. While the case initially appeared routine, forensic examinations revealed he died from abdominal internal bleeding that was not caused by pathological factors.
His son, Avraam Chatzidis, reported that the home showed signs of a break-in, noting that an iron window grate had been removed and the house was left in disarray. Avraam stated that his father had mentioned a previous burglary to a local shopkeeper a few days prior, but the son did not notify the police at that time because he believed nothing valuable had been stolen.
The investigation is examining inconsistencies in descriptions of the scene and the circumstances surrounding the entry into the residence. Police have collected fingerprints as they work to determine if the death was the result of criminal activity.
