Serres Municipality holds animal welfare awareness events

The Municipality of Serres implemented a series of educational and animal-friendly initiatives to mark World Animal Day. The goal of these actions is to raise awareness among both children and adults, fostering a culture of respect for animals and the environment.

Events included visits to the municipal stray animal shelter by beneficiaries of local social programs, where participants engaged in creative activities and received information on responsible pet care from municipal veterinarian Sultana Vergo. Additionally, municipal veterinarian Sofia Kechagia and breeder Iliana Demopoulou visited local kindergartens and nursery schools to distribute educational materials and interact with students.

Deputy Mayor Chrysovalantis Kazakidis stated that these initiatives aim to develop animal-friendly consciousness, prevent animal abuse and abandonment, and strengthen respect for the natural environment.
