SER's 'Hoy por hoy' celebrates 40 years with anniversary gala in Madrid

The radio program 'Hoy por hoy' on SER celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special gala held at the Teatro Gran Vía in Madrid. The event featured founder Iñaki Gabilondo, who reflected on the differences between the optimistic atmosphere of Spain in 1986 and the political polarization and uncertainty of the present day.

Gabilondo emphasized the importance of the human factor, warning that while political rivals are manageable, the transition of rivals into enemies poses a significant danger. The ceremony included political analysis, discussions on the future of broadcasting, and a review of major historical milestones covered by the program, ranging from the Chernobyl disaster to the political victories of Felipe González.

Other participants included current host Aimar Bretos, El País director Jan Martínez Ahrens, and former deputy director Isaías Lafuente. The event also highlighted the role of local radio stations and the strategic importance of advertising in maintaining journalistic integrity.
