Seròs inaugurates new volunteer firefighter station

Interior Minister Núria Parlon has inaugurated a new volunteer firefighter station in Seròs, marking the end of a nearly two-decade demand for adequate facilities. The previous station, which opened in 1995, was closed in late 2021 due to serious structural deficiencies, forcing personnel to operate temporarily from a municipal shelter and warehouse.

The new facility represents an investment of 1.9 million euros and is notable for being the first station constructed using prefabricated modules. This innovative method is intended to serve as a model for future public constructions in Catalonia, as it allows for faster execution and ensures durability.

Located on Fraga Avenue, the 832-square-meter facility consists of fifteen prefabricated modules. While it currently houses 18 personnel, the station is designed to accommodate up to 31 operators. The building includes specialized areas such as locker rooms, a kitchen, a gym, living quarters, garages, a mechanical maintenance zone, and storage space.
