Salernitana confirms Serse Cosmi as manager amid supporter tension

Salernitana has decided to retain head coach Serse Cosmi following a period of significant uncertainty and tension with the club's supporters. The decision follows a 2-2 draw against Scafatese and intense confrontations between Cosmi and various ultra groups, including Curva Sud Siberiano, CCSC, and Club Mai Sola Salernitana. These supporters officially called for his resignation, citing dissatisfaction with his recent conduct and attitudes rather than purely sporting results.

Cosmi expressed his frustration during a press conference, noting his sadness over the team's performance and addressing the hostility he faced. The club's decision to maintain continuity is reportedly influenced by a desire to avoid increasing the wage bill by hiring a new manager.

While the coaching position remains stable, the club faces the challenge of rebuilding trust with its fanbase. Meanwhile, sporting director Daniele Faggiano is reportedly working to strengthen the squad, specifically looking for midfield reinforcements during the January transfer window.
